Awards: Newark Backyard Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project
3rd Place from CWEA for Statewide Engineering Achievement Awards

West Yost received the third place statewide ranking for Engineering Achievement for the Newark Backyard Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project. The design included relocation of existing sewer mains in the Newark Flat Top residential area to address structural deficiencies, maintenance issues, and system reliability. Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) was used to reroute private laterals from the backyard towards existing sewer mains located in the front streets. A low impact design approach combined with effective public outreach by the West Yost team resulted in very few complaints.
