Groundwater Program Continues to Grow
Tom Morris Joins the Groundwater Practice Area

Tom Morris joined the Water Business Sector as a technical specialist based in the Davis office. He is an expert in in aquifer storage and recovery and is responsible for many of the advanced methods of well construction, engineering design, and operation utilized today to store water in groundwater aquifers. He specializes in groundwater hydraulics, facility design, geochemistry, control logic, and operation of production and recharge wells. He spent 16 years with the Las Vegas Valley Water District developing and operating the largest groundwater recharge program in the nation.

Nancy Baker Joins Infrastructure Business Sector

Nancy Baker Joins the Infrastructure Business Sector Nancy Baker, PE, joined West Yost’s Infrastructure Business Sector as a principal engineer in the Irvine office. Nancy has more than 30 years of civil engineering experience in the water industry. She has extensive knowledge and experience in project management and the planning and design of water and wastewater facilities, including pipelines, pumping facilities, pressure reducing stations, domestic water well equipping, and water and wastewater treatment facilities.


New Sacramento Office
West Yost Associates Opens New Office

West Yost’s new Sacramento office at 8950 Cal Center Drive opened on April 16, 2018. This new location, midway between downtown Sacramento and Folsom, brings West Yost closer to our clients in the Sacramento region. The office has attracted new talent to the firm and allows members of our staff to work in the same communities in which they live.

West Yost will host an open house celebration for the new office in October 2018.

Don Berger Appointed SSV Advisory Council

West Yost Sponsors the Stockholm Junior Water Prize Competition

West Yost Associates sponsored the 2017 CWEA Stockholm Junior Water Prize competition. This esteemed science competition awards high school students for solving water-related issues. Through our sponsorship, CWEA promoted the competition and awarded money to students who ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the state competition. This year’s winner, Visala Tallavarjula, will advance to the national competition.

West Yost Proudly Sponsors MCWRA as They Hosted Students from Rice University

West Yost co-sponsored the Mountain Counties Water Resources Association​ tours of the Nimbus Fish Hatchery​, Folsom Lake, and the Placer County Water Agency​’s Foothill Water Treatment Plant for students from Houston’s Rice University​. West Yost’s Abigail Madrone discussed watershed and groundwater resources issues at the confluence of the North and Middle Fork of the American River. During the tour, students participating in Rice’s Alternative Spring Break program learned about water policy, water justice, and water production.

(March 30, 2017) West Yost Associates (West Yost) has acquired Whitley Burchett and Associates (WBA), headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. WBA specializes in providing municipal water, wastewater, and recycled water planning, permitting, and design services. “WBA has been a teaming partner with West Yost for many years,” said Charles Duncan, president of West Yost.

Bob Ward Joins West Yost Associates
Vice President of Oregon Operations

Robert Ward, PE has joined West Yost Associates (West Yost) as the Vice President of Oregon Operations. Bob has over 30 years of water engineering and project management experience throughout the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. His leadership skills; engineering expertise in water, wastewater, and infrastructure; and experience in the Portland area will drive the expansion of West Yost’s Pacific Northwest practice and support our mission to provide quality technical leadership and industry-leading client service.


West Yost Opens New Portland Office
Lake Oswego, Oregon

West Yost Associates (West Yost) is excited to announce that it has returned to the Portland, Oregon area by opening a new office in Lake Oswego.

The new Portland area office joins our existing Eugene office to provide engineering consulting services to Oregon and will allow us to better serve existing and new Pacific Northwest clients. The Lake Oswego office specializes in infrastructure, water treatment, and water resource planning and design, and it will expand our service offerings in owner’s advisory and design build management services in Oregon.


Corie Peterson, PE Joins West Yost Associates
New Portland Area Office

Corie Peterson, PE, has rejoined West Yost Associates as a Principal Engineer in our new Portland area office. Corie’s 17 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering in Oregon will help West Yost re-establish a significant base of water professionals in the Pacific Northwest. Her engineering, project management and leadership skills will result in the exceptional client service, high quality of work products and attention to detail that makes West Yost a top water firm.


West Yost Associates is a New Member of the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) is a nonprofit organization focused on developing and maintaining a sustainability rating system for all civil infrastructure. ISI serves as a community hub for organizations and individuals involved in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure. ISI also provides Envision at no cost to the infrastructure community and trains individuals in its use, after which they can earn the ENV SP credential. ISI also offers a project verification and award program.

2016 CMAA Northern California Project Achievement Award

The Construction Management Association of America Northern California Chapter (CMAA NC Chapter) has announced West Yost Associates’ Construction Management Project for the City of Modesto’s Phase 2 Biological Nutrient Removal / Tertiary Treatment Project as the 2016 recipient of the Project Achievement Award for a public works project with a construction value greater than $25 million.


West Yost Selected for Stanislaus Regional Water Authority Program
Program Management for Regional Water Supply

West Yost was selected to assist the Stanislaus Regional Water Authority (SRWA) in defining their regional water supply program. West Yost will work with the SRWA’s Technical Advisory Committee to provide Program Management services to guide and inform the SRWA Board as they decide how to move forward with detailed design and construction of a regional surface water supply project. The project could include a new surface water treatment plant to diversify and bolster water supplies for the cities of Ceres and Turlock.

Trenchless construction using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) was specified for construction of the majority of the private laterals due to limited access and to minimize property damage.

Awards: Newark Backyard Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project
3rd Place from CWEA for Statewide Engineering Achievement Awards

West Yost received the third place statewide ranking for Engineering Achievement for the Newark Backyard Sanitary Sewer Relocation Project. The design included relocation of existing sewer mains in the Newark Flat Top residential area to address structural deficiencies, maintenance issues, and system reliability. Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) was used to reroute private laterals from the backyard towards existing sewer mains located in the front streets. A low impact design approach combined with effective public outreach by the West Yost team resulted in very few complaints.

Vallejo Together – Homeless Outreach November 2015
25 Years of Service

As part of our 25 Years of Service Program, West Yost Associates invited clients to tell us what charitable organizations matter in their communities. Vallejo Sanitation and Flood Control District recommended helping the Vallejo homeless community. Vallejo Together is a local nonprofit community organization that helps those in need including homeless, senior citizens and veterans.


Northern California Dance Conservatory – ACCESS Dance Program
25 Years of Service

As part of our 25 Years of Service Program, West Yost Associates invited clients to tell us what charitable organizations matter in their communities. The Placer County Water Agency recommended the Northern California Dance Conservatory’s ACCESS Dance Program. ACCESS Dance is a program offering free creative movement classes designed especially for children with disabilities who may need special attention in order to fully experience the joy of movement, self-expression and therapeutic benefits of dance.
