Water Recycling Project
City of St. Helena, California
West Yost is assisting the City in the development of the best compliance solution for several outstanding regulatory issues associated with their 0.5 mgd Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF), including an evaluation of the City’s water reuse options.
West Yost has worked with the City in identifying potential customers/users of recycled water within and immediately adjacent to City limits, and sizing and preparing cost estimates for the required infrastructure to achieve zero discharge to Napa River, including evaluating the amount of seasonal storage required to balance seasonal flows and demands. Potential customers and users included City turf areas (parks and schools), large landscape areas, and vineyards. Although achieving zero discharge was found to be prohibitively expensive, the City hopes to develop a smaller recycled water program that does not require seasonal storage in the near future.
