Overview and case studies on construction techniques, and pros
and cons for rehabilitation methods including, CIPP; sliplining;
machine spiral wound PVC; fold and form PVC; and pipe bursting.
Overview of trenchless construction methods including
microtunneling and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
Technology transfer on lessons learned from over five backyard
main replacement programs. Includes information on alternative
design approaches to reduce bids and improve customer
interaction, meter administration, utility coordination,
maintaining service during construction, and coordinating new
connection with new water mains.
Overview of Primavera Contract Manager (formerly Expedition) for
paperless document control. Case study from a current Northern
California treatment plant project and overview of the web-based

Provides an overview of tank alternatives, and the specific
issues and construction method for prestressed concrete tanks,
including buried and partially buried tanks. Technology transfer
topics included: AWWA and UBC codes; water quality; corrosion /
coatings; access; security; drainage / overflow; ventilation;
safety; and instrumentation.
Technology transfer on the goals of creating or updating a Storm
Drain Master Plan (SDMP), including the information and data
needed, the best practices for indentifying existing flooding
problems and how to select the models and tools that will be used
to evaluate the problems and define solutions. Includes details
on developing drainage/flood reduction improvements including
cost estimating, Low Impact Development (LID), and
hydromodification considerations.
This training session provides an overview on the benefits of
water conservation and how conservation interfaces with your
agency’s Urban Water Management Plan updates and the SB 7
legislation. Includes examples and case studies.
Training includes an overview of regulatory framework, WDRs and
BPTCs, agricultural issues and water nutrient balance, and
establishing background data on groundwater impacts. Program
includes technical approaches to evaluation of groundwater and
creating new supplies, from treatment to end user.
Most software evaluations are done by consulting engineering
companies and the reality is that there is no such thing as an
“impartial” software evaluation. Every consulting firm that has
enough experience to do an evaluation, also has experience with
one or more products and companies and already has an opinion of
which software they would like to use.
Using Unidirectional Flushing Programs for Improved Water
Quality and to Protect Assets
Training provides an overview of Unidirectional Flushing (UDF),
including why you might need a flushing program and the
strategies for deciding on a conventional or UDF program.
Training includes an overview of how UDF works, key steps in
developing a pilot program or full-scale program, and the
benefits of integrating your hydraulic model and GIS data with
your flushing program.
