History of West Yost Associates
West Yost Associates was established in 1990. From the beginning, our firm’s focus has been exclusively on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects with the objective to provide a higher level of client service around this focused area of technical expertise. Our firm culture is deeply rooted in providing high quality work, superior client service, and technical expertise.
“We’ve accomplished the vision of establishing a good place to work, where the focus is on doing good work and serving our clients. We’ve attracted great people who continue to support this vision.” – Bruce West
Bruce West and Jim Yost met at the University of California Davis, while completing their engineering undergraduate studies. The two became good friends, and their friendship continued through school and into their professional careers. They also shared a vision of forming an engineering company that focused primarily on project work and client service. On June 1, 1990 their vision came to fruition and West Yost Associates began doing business in a small executive suite on Lake Boulevard, in Davis, California. In 1992, Steve Dalrymple joined the firm.
In 2008, Steve Dalrymple became President of West Yost Associates. Steve had been involved in the management of the firm since 1992 and his transition into presidency was both an exciting new chapter for the company and a natural transition of leadership.
“I have no regrets, this is the most fun I’ve had doing engineering. It’s been very enjoyable. We’ve hired the best people and we’ve built a reputation for doing the best work.” — Jim Yost
